Questions for Seminar Discussions:
- What are the bases on which globalized models rest?
- Do you agree with the neo-institutionalist theory? Can you think of strong critiques to it? Make sure to provide examples.
- Could it really be possible, as Prof. Meyer suggests, that nation states and people believe in a norm, but their behavior is different from that norm? How would you explain that?
- In your opinion, what is the relative importance of actors’ behavior (e.g. political leaders of a nation state) and the norms/models of World Society that Prof. Meyer talks about? Are there cases in which actors’ behavior is more influential than WS models?
